Why have a doula ?

Navigating the current maternity system is a challenge, and all you want to focus on right now is growing your baby, nesting and focus on all the exciting changes that are around the corner. So have someone in your corner to help. Someone to point you towards the facts, the research, the reminders, someone to boost your confidence and support your choices. Someone to support your loved ones while they hold you and to always advocate for you and your decisions. No matter what.

You need to find the right doula for you, someone you feel calm and safe with. Someone who puts you at ease. So let’s have a coffee first and get to know eachother.

  • Being your birth doula first and foremost would be a privilege. You can hire me from your first trimester and I will spend a number of hours with you and your birth team getting to know you and your wishes.

We do antenatal work together that will inform you fully on the details you need to know to prepare for you birth.

We form a WhatsApp group and keep in communication during your pregnancy.

When you are 39 weeks I go on call for you, i can attend appointments with you and I can provide you with comfort and support in the final weeks. When you go into labour I am there with you. I will stay after and support initiating feeding.

I will come and do a postnatal visit after a few days and we can keep in touch on the phone for 3 weeks.

  • As a postnatal doula I am able to come to your home once or twice a week for a few hours and make space for you, your new baby and your family.

This role is flexible depending on each person but typically I will cook some meals for you, hold your baby while you rest, hold you while we talk through the journey of parenthood. I can take pets or other siblings for a walk and I can help with baby wearing/ nutrition/ emotional support and tips as your navigate the early weeks.

I offer feeding support, whatever your feeding journey looks like.

Importantly we will do a birth debrief in the early weeks and digest your thoughts and feelings about your transition to motherhood.

This can be added on to birth doula support, prices start at £35 an hour.
